ENVIRONMENTAL TIP
Leave No Trace
Responsible snowmobiling means Conserving Ontario's Last Frontier for the next person to enjoy as you did. So be trail wise and travel light. The only thing you should take is your memories.

DidYou Know...
According to the U.S. environment Protection Agency, snowmobile emissions can hardly be considered additive to overall air pollutant episodes?

West Muskoka Trail Riders was formed in 1978 with about 12 riders and 30 miles of trail. The West Muskoka Trail Riders  currently maintain approimately 150 kms of some of the most picturesque trails in the area. The club joined the OFSC in 1986 and today the membership has grown to over 400. The Trail System encompasses the villages of Minett, Rosseau and Humphrey. TOP trail C-102 connects club trails from Rosseau to the Seguin Trail at Seguin Falls. This trail is also referred to the Nippissing Trail - which follows the route of the original settlers' road that was surveyed in 1964. The Club's day-to-day operations are run by about 12 volunteer directors.

Each year the West Muskoka Trail Riders hosts a Pig and Corn Roast Fundraiser usually two weeks after the Labor Day Weekend.

Dear fellow sledders,

This letter is in response to the numerous questions and complaints riders are voicing to the businesses in the Rosseau area.

WMTR is in need of 6 bridges and multiple culverts to make it safe for the groomers as well as snowmobiles to get to the Seguin trail.  Our groomer made it to the Seguin Trail yesterday, but had to wait until it was safe enough to create an ice bridge.

Our club has approximately 300 members and for each permit that our club sells we receive $6.00.  With these funds we must take care of our trails, which includes bridging, culverts, repairs to our club Alpines and any administration costs.

We have 2 fundraisers a year which are the Pig Roast in September and the lunch at the Seguin Dogsled Mailrun in February.  We do not receive money from OFSC, PSSD, Revenue Canada, OSPCA or the AA to help with these costs.

Each bridge costs between $3,000.00 to $10,000.00 depending on the span as well as many volunteer hours doing the work.

At this time the volunteers are trying to repair all the bridges that need work done.  Please be patient and try to understand as we are doing the best we can with what we have.

Feel free to contact us if we can be of any further assistance.  Any and all support is greatly appreciated.
